NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

For now, it's quite an expensive toy. Has only one resolution for scanning, without possibility to choose a lower one (there are now AI programs for upscaling) and the result is often a little too granulated. The transport system seems not to press the film properly, so there are a lot of frames lightly without focus. And the SD card slot is put on the back, not easy to operate it... Should be on the front. Another issue was (just once for about 20 sec) a strange sound from inside, as the gears are not working properly...

I have transferred about 90 minutes so far without any problems- Works great, very easy to use and navigate menu. Captures film at 20 FPS, where as 18 FPS would have been more ideal for me, there is no way to change this other than post processing. Overall I am very pleased with the results.

Helligkeitsflackern, Blaustich und zu hohe Komprimierung

Das positive zuerst: Das Gerät macht einen soliden Eindruck und transportiert den Film beim Scannen zuverlässig. Die optische Auflösung der Kamera ist gut,
Leider lässt sich die Belichtungsautomatik der Kamera nicht abschalten, wodurch Filmszenen mit hohem Kontrastumfang ein Helligkeitsflackern verursachen (es wird abwechselnd auf helle und auf dunkle Stellen im Film belichtet). Ausserdem wird der Farbton ständig vom automatischen Weißabgleich verfälscht.
Durch die geringe Bitrate und das aggressive digitale nachschärfen kommt es zu störenden Artefakten und es gehen viele Details verloren, die auf dem Vorschaubild noch zu erkennen waren. Dadurch werde viele Szenen in abgescannten Filmen unbrauchbar
Der Scanner benötigt dringend eine Firmwarerevision, die ein 100% manuelles einstellen von Belichtung und Weißabgleich erlaubt und bei welcher die Bitrate der mp4 Datei einstellbar ist

Good but not perfect

For it's price is a good machine, it could do with a few improvements. A 10in reel capacity, a means to stop during the scan to tweak the film colour, exposure etc.
What it does it does well so well worth the money.

Scaner for film fans

I bought this kodak reel digitalizer for yous on my workshops. It is good quality scaner for film fans, but not for seriouse use.
